I lost my 5-1/2 year old poodle 3/16/07 due to eating Wal-Marts Ol'Roy wet pouch dog food. He became very ill 2/16/07 and we took him to the vet where he stayed four days. We brought him home and continued to give him fluids. He continued to go down hill and did not eat for 7 days. We could not stand to see him suffer so much so had him put to sleep 3/16 (2 days before we read about the menu foods recall). Not only should we be reimbursed for the vet bills that have amounted to over $1500, but also for the pain and suffering my husband and myself have experienced over our beloved Zach.

My cat is currently in the hospital with kidney failure from eating the recalled pet food (Special Kitty). The vet is treating him with IV and antibiotics. His BUN is decreasing (started at 112 on Tuesday, 66 on Wednesday, 53 today) but his creatinine is not moving much (9.9 on Tuesday, 8.5 Wednesday, 8.7 Thursday). Does anyone have information on what treatments are working? I don't know what I'll do if my "baby" dies!

Iams is not doing enough. Because my 3 cats have been eating recalled food (Nutro packets), I spent $275 at the vet today to get blood panels done for them. If the results come back clean, that would be splendid!

But I would still be out the $275 just the same. And as a responsible pet owner, I *had* to spend that amount to make sure my asymptomatic cats did not suffer any organ damage due to their consumption of the contaminated food.

Menu Food's and Nutro's negligence required me to make that expenditure, and I deserve to be reimbursed for that expense. If companies like Nutro and Iams don't want to shell out for such expenses, then don't make or market *admittedly* defective food!

Hey Catmanager, we totally hear you about the media coverage. I've been able to raise some eyebrows in Seattle with our coverage and digging around, but so far, the blogs have been all over it. Having worked in several news rooms, I can bet that the low official death toll is really causing the media brownout of this problem.

Until then, we'll do our best.
